Building Missions

• Habitat for Humanity: Builds safe, affordable homes for lower-income families in the area.  Volunteer opportunities available in construction and at the Restore.  Contact Lloyd Briggs labinc1@aol.com.
• Repair Teams: Once a month teams from the church assist individuals and ministries in need by making repairs on homes and facilities.  The group also makes repairs on the church facilities.  Contact Cal Hvrivnak at cal_hrivnak@mindspring.com
• Love INC: Love In the Name of Christ is an agency that serves to form helping relationships between the poor, elderly, or disabled who have unmet needs to churches and church members willing to meet those needs.  Ways to help include grocery shopping for the elderly, helping to build a handicapped ramp, and doing yard work.  Contact Lloyd Briggs labinc1@aol.com.

Homeless and Feeding Missions

• Charlotte Rescue Mission: Ministers to individuals caught in cycles of poverty, hopelessness, and addiction by meeting their spiritual, physical, social, psychological and vocational needs.  A group from the church leads worship quarterly at the mission.  Volunteers are also welcome to serve and provide meals.  Contact Sharon McFadden SMCFadden@carolina.rr.com.
• Monroe Community Shelter: Provides temporary shelter for the homeless population in Union County.  Groups from the church provide dinner for the shelter the third Thursday of each month.  Contact Kristi Hooks to help DTKikiB@aol.com.
• Meals on Wheels: Delivers hot meals and much needed fellowship to homebound senior citizens in our community.  Volunteers are needed on a monthly basis to deliver meals.  Contact Susan Walsh at swalsh@carolina.rr.com.
• Operation Reach Out: Offers help to people in need in Union County by addressing both the physical and spiritual needs of those they serve.  They offer emergency food, medicine, clothing, household items, and funds to people in need.  Volunteers are needed to help with a daily lunch and Bible study as well as to organize and unload donations.  Contact Linda Hastings, ponyandus@carolina.rr.com.

Other Local Missions

• Second Saturday Service Day: On the Second Saturday of each month we come together to humbly serve our community in love.  There are opportunities for people of all ages to be involved in a local mission on these days whether you are making sandwiches for the Urban Ministry Center or leading a worship service for the residents of a nursing home.  Contact Erin Yow erin.yow@weddingtonchurch.org.
• Dental Mission: Twice a year we sponsor a free dental clinic to residents in Union County.  Volunteers are needed to provide dental care as well as to pray for and support the people receiving care.  Contact Betsy Wollner bwoller@carolina.rr.com.
• Restoration House: A ministry in Monroe that helps men rebuild their lives through a residency program which allows God to heal emotional scars and restore their families while learning life skills.  www.restorationhouses.org Contact Bill Mayes mayesbd@gmail.com
• His Perfect Love Ministries: Reaches out to men and women who may have made bad life choices and need God’s love to mend their broken hears.  They work to bring spiritual healing and to help people make a fresh start in society through job training and education.  House of Pearls, a transitional residency program for women, is run by this ministry. hisperfectlove.org/houseofpearls/ Contact Bill Mayes mayesbd@gmail.com

• Refugee Support Services of the Carolinas: Helps refugees living in Charlotte achieve self sufficiency through programs and education that empower them to thrive in the United States.  They aim to connect refugees to the community through reciprocal relationships between refugees and Americans.  Contact Erin Yow erin.yow@weddingtonchurch.org
• Wycliffe Bible Translators/JAARS: Through partnerships worldwide, JAARS provides technical support services and resources to speed Bible translation for all people.  Wycliffe supports churches worldwide in providing a Bible in every language.  The JAARS headquarters in Waxhaw has many volunteer opportunities.  www.jaars.org.  Contact Kent Allain kallain@msn.com

Seasonal Opportunities

• Operation Christmas Child: In cooperation with Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse church members fill shoeboxes with gifts for children who live in poverty stricken countries. We also serve as a drop off location for people in the community.
