Welcome to our Music & Arts page!

The purpose of the Music & Arts Ministry is two-fold.  First, we seek to glorify God by leading the body of Christ before the throne of the Lord in worship by being “lead worshipers,” not worship leaders.  Second, through singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, playing instruments, drama, dance and visual arts, we seek to plant the word of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ on the hearts and minds of those who enter our doors.

In 1 Chronicles 15, David is preparing to return the Ark of the Covenant (God’s throne among His people and a symbol of God’s presence and power with them wherever it went) to Jerusalem.  David instructed the Levites to assemble singers and musicians for the procession.  So the Ark of the Covenant, God’s presence, was ushered back to Jerusalem accompanied by the fanfare praises of a grand choir and orchestra, the shouts of the entire house of Israel, and even with…gasp!...DANCING before the Lord!  Afterward, they all had what I can only imagine was one raucous worship service in praise to God!

Whether you and your family participate in worship through our various ensembles, or if you participate in worship from a pew, I pray that the worship arts at WUMC will overwhelm your heart with the deep, deep love of Jesus Christ and usher you into the glorious presence of the Living God.
