2016 Clergy Appointments

Each year the Bishops of The United Methodist Church appoint clergy to their various churches and ministries. Appointments are made for one year at a time. On Sunday, April 24, announcements of appointments for the 2016-2017 conference year were made. Bishop Larry Goodpaster is making the following appointments effective July 1 for Weddington United Methodist Church.

Reverend Erin Yow will be appointed as the pastor of the South Point United Methodist Church in Belmont. We celebrate with Rev. Yow as she fulfills her call from God to serve as pastor of her own congregation. We give thanks to God for Rev. Yow’s seven years of ministry here at Weddington and pray for her new ministry in Belmont.

Reverend David Locke will be appointed as the pastor of the Providence United Methodist Church in Statesville. We celebrate with Rev. Locke as he fulfills his call from God to serve as a pastor of his own congregation. We give thanks to God for Rev. Locke’s three years of ministry at Weddington and pray for his new ministry in Statesville.

We will have a celebration event for Rev. Yow and Rev. Locke on May 22nd where we can express our love for them, celebrate their ministries at Weddington, and pray for them as they go forth to continue their ministries on behalf of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Reverend Amy Hutchison will be appointed to WUMC as the Pastor of Evangelism and primary preacher of the Marvin and Bonds Grove campuses.  Rev. Hutchison is an effective pastor of her own congregation and has a passion for reaching the unchurched, especially the young adult community. We welcome her to our ministry team.

Reverend Rocio Avila Ramirez will be appointed to WUMC as the Assistant Pastor of Missions. Rev. Ramirez has a passion for the poor and marginalized. She is fluent in both English and Spanish with a desire to share Jesus Christ with all people. We welcome her to our ministry team.

We give thanks to God for the ministries of our clergy and the church.  We trust that God’s Holy Spirit and grace will be with Revs. Yow and Locke as they begin their new ministries.  We trust that God’s Holy Spirit and grace will be with Revs. Hutchison and Ramirez as they join our ministry team. In all things, we pray that God will be glorified and lives will be transformed on behalf of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
