Under God Sermon

Jul 5, 2026

Pastor Terry takes a brief pause from our But Why? Honest Questions. Biblical Answers. summer series to reflect on a milestone in our nation's history—250 years of freedom—and what Scripture teaches about living faithfully under God's authority. Drawing from 1 Timothy 2:1–2, this message reminds us that one of the church's greatest responsibilities is to pray for those in authority, seeking God's wisdom, peace, and guidance for our nation and the world.

In a culture where it's easy to complain, argue, or become divided, Paul offers a different response: petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving for all people—including our leaders. Pastor Terry explores what it means to seek God's peace, recognize the freedoms we've been given, and remember that our ultimate hope is never found in politics but in the Lord who reigns over every nation.

As we celebrate Independence Day, may we be reminded of Abraham Lincoln's prayer that our nation would be on God's side, and may we answer God's invitation in 2 Chronicles 7:14 to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and trust Him with the future. Thank you for joining us in worship. Be sure to subscribe and share this message with someone who could use this biblical reminder to pray faithfully for our nation and those in authority.
