Loving God with All Your Soul

Mar 8, 2026    The Rev. Dr. Terry Moore

What does it mean to love God with all your soul?

In this message from the series “The Greatest Commandment,” Pastor Terry explores Jesus’ words in Mark 12 as He calls us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. But what exactly is the soul? Scripture points us all the way back to Genesis, where God formed humanity from the dust of the ground and breathed His own breath of life into us.

That divine breath—what scripture calls the soul—is the very essence of who we are. It is the image of God placed within every human life.

Because we are God-breathed people, loving God with our soul means offering our whole being—our life, our identity, and our very breath—back to the One who created us. Through worship, scripture, music, fellowship, and time with God, our souls are nourished and refreshed by the Shepherd who restores us.

This message is an invitation to remember who you are: a person formed by God, filled with His breath, and called to love Him with everything you’ve got.
